Player News

Martin Doherty who has missed the first two games hopes to be fit for Saturday's trip to Burton.

John Foster has ankle damage following a bad tackle from his namesake in last Saturday's game. However until the swelling goes down, it is hard to predict how long John will be out for, but hopefully it won't be too long. In the interim Mike McKenzie is hoping to sign some defensive cover.

Tigers On The Pools

The Tigers games against Colwyn Bay ( Sept 1st) and Droylsden ( Oct 7th) are both on the pools. However with the Droylsden game on a Sunday, the Pools Panel may adjudicate on the Saturday.

FA Cup Cash Bonanza

The FA have announced that all teams winning in the Qualifying rounds of the FA Cup will get £7,500 per round. This 'new money' is part of the enhanced TV deal sponsorship. The figures rise considerably from the 1st Round Proper. This year the Tigers enter at Qualifying Round 2( Vauxhall Motors - away), with a further 2 rounds before the 1st Round Proper.

Stuart Taylor

Stuart Taylor a central defender has finally been given his international clearance and will be able to turn out for the Tigers this Saturday V Bishop Auckland.

Help Needed

The new website is nearing completion but need help with my Manchester City page. I am looking for someone who can give me information about the reserves. I mailed the City website but thus far have not had a response, so if you know of anyone who can supply info please mail me via ade@i12.com any contributions will be accredited.

New Website Sponsor/s

Due to increased costs in the operation of the new Hyde United website I am looking for a sponsor or sponsors.

The current website was created in November 1998 and in its first year gained 4 thousand visits.  In the second year this figure increased to 15 thousand hits and in the first 9 months of of year three  has had a further 12.5 thousand hits making a total of 27.5 thousand.

The sponsor would have a banner, plus links to their own site from the main Hyde United page and also the same would apply for emails sent from the site.  If the sponsor requires a web page this could be created by negotiation.

For further information please contact me via ade@i12.com

Our squad is now complete following a further two signings after yesterday's 7 - 1 victory at Atherton LR. Although Paul Ashwell missed yesterday's game with a knock, he should be fit for next Saturday and therefore Mike should have a full squad to pick from, providing International clearance comes through for the new signings.

Stuart Taylor - impressed in all the pre-season games as a sweeper. Formally with Blackburn Rovers and now returned to the UK after a spell in New Zealand.

Clive Brown - utility defender. Brother of Man Utd's Wes. Also needs International clearance as he played for Bangor City in the League of Wales last year.

Benifit Match

There is to be a benefit match for the late Jimmy Golder on Sunday 12th August at Woodley Sports FC - kick off  1pm with the proceeds going to Jimmy's family. Jimmy is fondly remembered at Hyde for his penalty taking skills ( how we needed him last week!) but it shouldn't be forgotten that he was a brilliant midfield player too and missed by many in non-league football.

There will be a Radcliffe/Hyde select XI and it is hoped that former Hyde players Kevin Glendon, Tony Steenson, George Oghani and Peter Coyne will be turning out. Admission is by ticket which are priced at £3 and available from the Secretary's office. This is a very worthy cause and please buy a ticket even if you are not sure of actually attending the game.

Many thanks
Tony Beard

New Commercial Manager Amanda Goodall

Well, I’m coming up to my fourth, very busy week with the club now and it’s time I introduced myself officially.

For those of you that have already met me you’ll probably have a good idea of what I would like to achieve for the club and if you’ve read the Advertiser this week then you’re starting to get the picture.

I’ve spent the first few weeks finding my feet and clearing out the commercial office! There has been so much to pull together and learn and it’s a bit different to the motor trade!!

There is a brochure now for the club detailing sponsorship packages, club information and it’s facilities. To obtain a copy of this brochure, please contact me at the club.

As you may or may not be aware, last year was a terrible year for the club. We missed out on £25,000, a desperately needed input into the club and suffered the loss of our long-standing and well loved Secretary and Commercial Manager, Ray Stanley, who died suddenly and unexpectedly.

The club managed, but didn’t reach it’s potential due to the lack of cash input and low morale generated with Ray’s death.

This has now been addressed and I’d like to introduce myself as the new Commercial Manager for the club. Our aim this season is to pull ourselves back together and make Hyde United the focal point of the community that it always was. Our facilities at the club and our ground are far superior to any club in the area and Hyde United has so much to offer…

Our gate figure last year was 25,000: This is by no means a maximum and this season, we are working closely with local schools and other associations such as the Rotary Club to entice new people to the club and bring back some that had just stopped supporting.

So, we are starting a new season with a fresh start and I am looking forward to your support. Already I have created relationships with Clarendon Square Shopping Centre and The Rotary Club and I’d like to thank Steve Bowker, John Miller, Paul ? and Gus for gallantly volunteering to stand in as goalkeepers at our “Beat The Goalie” competition at the recent Gee Cross Fete. (Not forgetting Mike Tansella for helping me organise the day). “Beat the Goalie” was a huge success and really helped put the word out about Hyde United, not only did we raise money for the club, but we recruited a few more supporters.

Since embarking on this adventure I’ve been able to generate lots of new ideas and fund raising areas, but unfortunately at the end of
the day, none of it will be possible without volunteers and support, so if you would like to spare  a couple of hours a week,
please call me and let me know how you would like to contribute your time.

This is my first role that I am undertaking in the world of football and I will be relying on your support. And with two weeks to go until our first match there is still a lot to do and plenty of knocking on doors for sponsorship. If you would like to sponsor Hyde United or know anyone that would be interested please contact me for details.

So no doubt I’ll meet you all soon. Primarily on Match days, my role will be to entertain the sponsors in the Peter O’Brien Lounge, but I will make every effort to get out and about during the game, so feel free to approach me if you have any burning issues and until then…  I’m waiting to hearing YOUR views and ideas…

Regards,

Amanda.
